Here's to Twins . . . In a world outside of Sweet Valley, there exists a set of twins, neither doormat nor sociopathic, but somewhere in between

In the mid-80’s, Bryn Mawr and MIT grad Cynthia Blair introduced us to Christine and Susan Pratt, or as I used to think of them, Jessica and Elizabeth lite. Kind of like light sour cream – slightly flavorless, not as good as the real stuff but healthier in small doses. Christine, or Chris, is the Jessica-esque twin, being popular and confident but apparently not excessively narcissistic or sociopathic. Susan is the smart, artistic twin and is only slightly pathetic, fortunately lacking Elizabeth’s martyr syndrome and propensity to bestow smug, shoulder pats on (a) fat (b) non-blonde (c) unpopular girls (d) from broken homes.
I’m guessing Cynthia Blair developed an unhealthy relationship with food while matriculating at the Ivy League because each of the Pratt Twins books is named after a dessert (or beverage).
